Definition
Outbound prospecting is the process of proactively reaching out to potential customers who have not come to you first, typically through cold calls, emails, LinkedIn messages, or direct mail.
In Depth
Outbound prospecting is how most B2B businesses find new customers. Instead of waiting for the phone to ring or for someone to fill out a form on your website, you go out and find businesses that need what you sell and contact them directly. This can mean cold calling, sending emails, reaching out on LinkedIn, or even showing up in person. The challenge with outbound is that it takes a lot of effort and most of it is wasted on people who are not interested. The businesses that do outbound well have two things going for them: they know exactly who they are looking for, and they have a system that helps them find and reach those people consistently. Without a system, outbound is a grind. With the right automation, it becomes a predictable engine that generates new business week after week.
